The difference between cold cut saw and hot saw

May 26, 2021

Excellent sawing scheme can improve the quality of the sawing workpiece, extend the service life of the saw blade and speed up the sawing speed. This is the first step for the metal products industry to improve product quality, improve production power and reduce production cost in the production process. So what's the difference between hot cutting saw and cold cutting saw? The circular saw blade manufacturer will tell you:

Cold cutting saw: that is, the metal is quickly cut off by the high-speed rotating circular saw blade at room temperature, and the end face of the cutting is flat and bright as a mirror.

Hot saw: commonly known as hacksaw, computer flying saw, also known as conflict saw. High speed cutting is accompanied by high temperature and spark, and the cutting end surface is purple, with many flash and burr.

1. Sawing method

Cold cutting saw: high speed hacksaw blade rotates slowly, milling welded pipe, so it can achieve no burr and no noise. There is little heat in the sawing process, and the saw blade has little pressure on the steel pipe, which will not form the deformation of pipe wall and nozzle.

Hot cutting saw: the ordinary computer flying saw is a tungsten steel saw blade rotating at high speed. Touching the welded pipe generates heat to make it break, which is actually burning. High burning marks can be seen on the surface. A large amount of heat occurs, and the saw blade exerts a great pressure on the steel pipe, resulting in the deformation of the pipe wall and the formation of quality defects.

2. Length accuracy

Cold cutting saw: fixed length ± 0 mm, the same standard repeatability ± 0.5mm does not need secondary sizing, saving process and raw materials

Hot saw: ± 2.5mm, most of the demand lines are cut to length twice, wasting manpower, energy and raw materials

3. Cut off the quality

Cold cutting saw: the burr inside and outside is very small, the milling surface is flat and bright, no need for follow-up treatment, saving process and raw materials

Hot cutting saw: there is a big burr in the surface and inside, so it needs to carry out the follow-up treatment such as flat head chamfering, which increases the cost of human energy and raw material consumption

4. Is the difference between cold cutting saw and hot cutting saw blade?

It is clear that the selection of good quality saw blade is one of the factors to obtain good sawing effect. There are many more important factors that affect the sawing effect. For example, the abnormal vibration of the saw during operation, too large gear gap, too small motor power, improper ratio of fixture use and coolant, too high speed of the saw and too slow feed speed will cause damage to the saw blade, and then affect the sawing effect. Therefore, the quality of flying saw and the parameters of sawing directly affect the quality of workpiece sawing, the power of sawing and the service life of saw blade.
